Thanks, Sweet & Jeff & Wild & Adam. I'll pass your comments along to Robert Lund. And I just found out that "The Rise Guys" at KHTK in NoCal played this on their show a few days ago. Woo-hoo!

Interestingly enough, I am currently listening to this song (the original) :-). I first heard this song just a couple of days ago, after hearing a parody of it about my new alma mater, Harvey Mudd College, "Harvey Mudder Girls." Pretty good parody. This parody is much better. Not least because you can sing. Also because you didn't use a crappy midi put together in 10 minutes as background music. Good job!

Thanx, neminem. (Any relation?) And let me get this straight: Are you saying that you first heard "California Girls" a few days ago? That blows my mind. I thought it had become such a part of the culture that at this point everyone's born with an innate knowledge of it. Like, you know, being born knowing how to sweat.

wow! too cool.. I wonder if the additional exposure from amIright helped them find it, or if they google'd it... either way it's quite cool for you to get a nod like that from a large website..

Yes, I first heard it a couple days ago, after hearing that parody (unlabeled) and googling some likely lyrics to figure out what it was a parody of. And assuming that you're asking if "neminem" has any relation to "Eminem," yes. Having been "nobody" for a few years, when I discovered that the accusative singular form of "nobody" in Latin was "neminem," I decided to use that name instead, as it was therefore also a play on Eminem.

neminem: Creative. I like it. Chuky: yeah, it would be cool to know where the MSNBC blogger heard about my song. For what it's worth, I've been receiving more hits to my site from amiright than from MSNBC, if that's any indication of the relative popularity of amiright vs. that blog.

funny funny! I never thought that any body could be able to do that to "California Girls" but you seemed to pull it off! Great job!

"Shaving Cream," written and recorded in 1946 by Benny Bell, and released in 1974 (thanks to Dr. Demento and Cousin Bruce Morrow) has been updated and recorded live by his grandson. The new version is called "Shaving Cream Redo." Dr. Demento is going to play it within the first few days of August. Please call Dr. Demento and ask him to play the entire song as often as possible, as well as anothr Benny remake called "Work Sucks." Also, ask your other favorite broadcasters to contact his grandson at joelthewriter@comcast.net for a copy of the song. Here are two samples verses of "Shaving Cream Redo": With Britney Spears having a baby She'll hold off recording a bit I'm glad that her husband's a charmer 'Cause her singing's as charming as Shaving cream Be nice and clean Shave every day and you'll always look keen You all know the gov'nor named Arnold Insightful, decisive and fit His muscles are bigger than mountains Imagine the size of his Shaving cream Be nic and clean Shave every day and you'll always look keen.
