The Lyrics

Kentucky Derby Winner, Barbaro was euthanized Monday, following eight months of treatment for a broken leg he suffered during the second run for the Triple Crown, The Preakness
At Churchill Downs, he ran the best
And finished far beyond the rest
He won the roses, stole the show..
No lightnin' bolt coulda' caught that Colt..Barbaro

Had great speed and talent, a spirit for winning
Would take the Triple Crown
Held his head in the wind out there at The Preakness
Till a broken leg took him down

The best of care
His vets would give
Showed courage strong,
The will to live..
But, now he's gone where hero's go
No lightnin' bolt coulda' caught that Colt..Barbaro

No Lightnin' bolt coulda' caught that Colt..Barbaro

There at the Downs, no sadder day
The cards come in, kind words they say
For sympathy, respect they show
No Lightnin' bolt coulda' caught that Colt..Barbaro

As black as the night with a bright shining beauty
Long live his memory
Many years will pass by till they match that greatness
Such is his legacy..

Up in the sky, a Golden Track
Four feet will fly and pass the pack
The Triple Crown, He'll win I know..
No lightnin' bolt's gonna' catch that colt..Barbaro

Colt..Barbaro
Colt..Barbaro
Colt..Barbaro
Colt..Barbaro

Don't know the original song, but it fits him well. If only those casts had.

I meant to give you 535, but mistakenly entered 131. Didn't mean to screw up your parody. This was a fine tribute to a great horse! Will give you 5s later to rase your score!

I hated to see Barbaro suffer just when he was about to be given a clean bill of health. I hope he's racing in a better place. (On a lighter note: I hope the Colts from Indianapolis have better luck. Win the Super Bowl, guys!)
