The Lyrics

I spent the summer of love in Napa State Mental Hospital. State hospitals were like concentration camps back then. Out of sight, out of mind. Modern times use a PHF unit or observation for 72 hours. 5150 is the police code for a mental case arrest, ie danger to self or others. The DSM is the psyciatrists bible listing mental problems.
In my head I'm hearing voices urging me to make some choices
but for 72 hours the voice lost its power
cause I'm locked up on the observation ward

Now its clear I'm unstable but they must find a lable
let the DSM name what's wrong with my brain
while I'm on the observation ward

For many days I skipped my medication
until I started acting like a fool
Authorities agreed on intervention
so they dopped me till I only sit and drool

The police called 5150 to the PHF unit they ship me
where my ego they shred crawling into my head
while I'm on the observation ward

Now the preacher's getting nervous that I may disrupt the service
but Jesus was glad imbracing the mad
he didn't need an observation ward

Well, it was truly a unique prelude that you shared; not many are so honest. Anyhow, once again you have good pacing and interesting reading, and hopefully you'll write more.

The last stanza was totally 5150. Otherwise, this is pretty good.... 445.

I think the last stanza made the whole parody! Good job! :-)

I just finished a cycle tour of the Sonora desert where I met a man with a studio. I laid down 14 tracks of my own songs, many parodies, some completely original. I'm not selling them but I'll send one for free with sase. Most of my music is about homelessness, insanity, and people the world discards. I don't want to entertain but make people stop and think. thegimprider@lycos.com mention "wordsalad music" and I'll view the message.
