The Lyrics

Where oh where can my daddy be
The lord took him away from me
He's gone to heaven so I got to be good
So I could see my daddy when I leave this world

We were gathered around my daddy's bed
We had been there for awhile
Into the room, an angel tread
Jesus called and my daddy was dead

We couldn't stop praying for him to fight
I'll never forget what happened that night.
The screaming sound, coming from my mom
My brother saying that he was gone.

Oh where oh where can my daddy be
The lord took him away from me
He's gone to heaven so I got to be good
So I could see my daddy when I leave this world

When I looked up the tears were streaming down
Everybody was standing all around
Tears were warm running in my eyes
Cause I seen my daddy die that night

I went to his bed, cried and said
I'm gonna miss you daddy for a long, long while
I leaned over and kissed him one last kiss
I lost my dad that I knew I'd miss
Now he's gone even though we held him tight
I lost my dad, my life that night.

Oh where oh where can my daddy be
The lord took him away from me
He's gone to heaven so I got to be good
So I could see my daddy when I leave this world

The original song is called "Last Kiss" and it was originally performed by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers in 1962. Pearl Jam covered it in 1999; their version is the most popular. Please do your research if you are unsure of the original performers and song title.

(SOTM) So much like the original!
Charlie Decker - April 08, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Agreed with Guy. Far too much of the OS is still in there. It is a sweet song, though.

(SOTM) Touching - you have no idea how close this comes to my own experience.
Agrimorfee - April 14, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Heartfelt, but really is a wholesale plagiarism of the OS.

Thats bull crap you should degrade the song its actually called "Last Kiss" and it was dedicated to a 16 year old teenager who lost her life in a tragic car accedint. A man named Wayne Cochran is the original singer and a very respected precher know. He is a true legend to all country music. You should honor the song not make fun of it.
A.H. - July 27, 2005 - Report this comment
Song Police--Wayne Cochran is actually the original song writter and singer of "Last Kiss" J. Frank Wilson and The Cavaliers along with Pearl Jam are nothing more than a renactment of the song. Just J. Frank sang it better than Pearl Jam if you dont believe me and want to know where my information cam from go to www.jimbowieband.com/lyrics/last_kiss it tells you the hole story.
spelling police to A.H. - August 25, 2005 - Report this comment
Okay... but "writter" is not a word. You probably meant "writer" (with one T).
