Parody Song Title:

"Drop Pi While You Still Can"

Parody Written by:

Guy DiRito

The Lyrics

Using super computers Pi has been computed out into the billions and beyond. Guinness keeps world records on how many places Pi has been computed to. No one has ever found a pattern or an end to the computations of Pi. I say why bother because if anyone ever did people would just probably say "Oh, so that's the answer". This parody is about that madness. Click here for some Fun facts about Pi.
Let's drop Pi at three one four,
Can't stop Pi so says the lore.
It never will finish,
It just don't diminish,
You'll pop Pi forever more.

The formula spooks us,
It can't be rebuked 'cause,
No one's found the end, I swear,
The answer's a tough one,
You can't get enough done,
For rounding up Pi R Square.

Computer software will fill hard disks,
You'll boff all your RAM that's on hand.
Why fill your containers,
With endless remainders,
Just drop Pi while you still can.

A pop fly goes in the stands,
It goes up and then it lands.
Won't round up or finish,
And no end's within reach,
It forever more expands.

You're on a geek-streak! I love it! Now how about a Pi-themed parody of Don McLean's "American Pie"?

JD - Somebody already did that. I think it's called Mathematical Pi. I am working on another piece of Pi right now. I promise it will be equally appealing.

The thought that Pi does not "run on" as I had always believed but "expands" is a revelation to me. Does then Pi have something to do with the expansion of the universe? I should have known, because pumpkin pie invariably expands my waistline. Loved it, loved it.

I have it on good advice from a time traveler in the year(2)555 that they laugh at us for doing this. 2 billion decimal places was enough to accomplish time travel. Whoops!!!!! I may have now created a paradox or alternate timeline by revealing that "point" of info. :)

Ag - I don't usually do this but I guess it deserves an explanation. It was an attempt after the song was written to vary the last verse where the OS just repeats this verse. I was trying to make a comparison that an event like a pop fly would end when the laws of gravity determined that the events in play had run their course. Unlike computing Pi to the nth degree.

Johnny D (and anyone else who might be interested): "Mathmatical Pi" by Double E to Don McLean's "American Pie" has not only been done, it has also in one of the contests proceeding the SOTMs been voted "Best Parody of Feb-July 2003" (though the first comment is from January 31) and though its not stated in the comments field I also have a vague memory of it being voted "Best parody previous to 2004" or something like that. Strangely enough its to the same tune as Spaff won SOTY with so it might be that the second best parody ever on AmIright is also only the second best parody of of "American Pie". :-)

Yay, pi! I memorized it, if anyone cares, to...lessee....pretty far for human memory, I think: 3.14159265358979323838846264....something I'm not voting, because I dunno how the large part of this song goes, but probly I"d give 555 anyway.
