Textbooks roasting on an open fire
Desktop kindling down below
School-time perils leave us less than inspired and
Feeling glum about our woes

Everybody knows that smirking and some fists and blows
Helped to make a recess fight
Tiny snots with their fingers in their nose
Will not keep us from sleep tonight

We know that Santa's on his way
And he's got two more weeks vacation on his sleigh
And every mother's child—

On Christmas break—I don't want to think about it or
See them at Wal-mart or write another lesson
Until I absolutely have to

And when that January bell does ring
We'll have King Day then no rest "till Spring Break
Although it wont be said, on every mind every day is
"How much longer, How much longer, How much longer 'til May?"
