Song Parodies -> "Bedtime for the Sleepy"

Original Song Title:

"Time of the Season"

Original Performer:

The Zombies

Parody Song Title:

"Bedtime for the Sleepy"

Parody Written by:

Jonathan Caws-Elwitt.

The Lyrics

It's bedtime for the sleepy
So say goodnight
Brush your teeth, and wash your face, now
And pull the covers up real tight
(Snuggly in bed now)
Turn out the light
(With pillows 'neath your head now)

It's bedtime for the sleepy
Go to sleep now

Kiss your mummy and daddy
Get your teddy bear
Wear your footsie pajamas
Or just some long underwear
(To keep you warm and cozy)
>From your head . . .
(Right down to your toesies)

It's bedtime for the sleepy
Go to sleep now

[repeat second verse and chorus]
NOTE: When I made a multi-track recording of myself performing this
one, I sang it in a "sleepy" voice, with yawns substituted for the
suggestive breaths on the original. In place of the Zombies' organ solo,
I played a 4-measure organ line that morphed "Time of the Season"'s
signature riff into the melody of "Lullaby and Goodnight".
