When I took a philosophy of religion course in college, the textbook was "Philosophy of Religion: Contemporary Perspectives", by Norbert O. Schedler. In two chapters thereof, the author uses the phrase "Igly Boo is Farkel" as a generic model of central religious assertions. This song was inspired by that phrase.

Sheesh - How long is that author's hair and what has he been smoking? Still an interesting read on a nice slow 50's song. I'll five you on it but give that author to the one's guy.

I'm still no clearer on what Igly Boo is, or why Norbert thinks it's Farkle, but after a laugh like that, I'm happy enough to just accept it as fact.
