The Lyrics

When Broadway Musicals Collide, Part IV: West Side Story's 'A Boy Like That' done to the tune of the song from 'South Pacific'...
[Anita]
A boy like that boy is no damned good -
To him, you're a toy - his heart is wood,
And he'll never treat you as good people would -
A boy like that boy is no good!

A boy like that boy is filled with hate
He can't be a kind and loving mate -
Please hear me, Maria, before it's too late
A boy like that boy's no damned good!

A boy who could kill your closest of kin,
This shows you the state his morals are in
To be with a boy like that boy is a sin --
A boy like that boy is no good!
A boy like that boy is no good!

[Maria]
But that is the boy who has my heart
You can't stop a feeling once it starts -
And two hearts are one now and never to part
That boy, yes that boy has my heart!

And that is the boy who wants my hand -
It's something we two could not have planned -
I beg you, Anita, to please understand
That boy, yes that boy wants my hand!

You know what I mean - I know this is true
Unless I am wrong, it happened to you:
To see only one heart where once there were two --
Bernardo is here in your heart --
My Tony, my only, my heart...

Not really funny, but pretty clever...

Thanks for switching musicals, Leo! I found myself considering mixing the tune "Sunrise, Sunset" with "I Feel Pretty" after the last one. And yes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! -- RR

Thanks BL & Ravyn. Ravyn, right now I'm working on setting WSS's '(I Want to Be in) America' to the tune of 'The March of the Siamese Children' from 'The King And I' -- I hope to have all of WSS's songs re-set to tunes from other shows before too much longer...
