The Lyrics

Sad to see the job market is slim...even for fictional monsters. Original Song:
Well I have this friend and I just don’t know why
He always gets turned down where he applies
He stays in my basement with paper handy
He says, “Don’t know why those people won’t hire me”

Once was the one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
(No job, no car, homeless purple people eater)
One time, once feared, flyin' purple people eater
Classified’s handy (But why!?)

Well at one interview, as nervous as can be
They said, “Mr. Purple People Eater, please sell me
Your resume is not enough...
Just please leave, you don’t know Microsoft!”

Cause he’s the denied, one-horned, jobless purple people eater
(Can’t type, can’t sort, jobless purple people eater)
Ain’t no jobs for flyin' purple people eaters
No jobs to be seen (Not one!?)

They said, “Mr. Purple People Eater, why apply?”
He said “Don’t see no purple people in these real tough times
I just need a job and I’ll do what I can!”
“I’m sorry, but McDonald’s has a purple man”

He crawled in hole, left alone, jobless purple people eater
So annoyed, unemployed, jobless purple people eater
(Don’t give up now!)
Flyin' purple people eater
Things will change, you see!

And then he met this Lady at a concert in town
“I’m diggin’ your style, you can so help me out!”
Now he’s makin’ money, he’s all in the news
Cause he’s out there a-makin’ Gaga’s rad costumes!

Well don’t you know, tons of dough, being Gaga’s costume maker
Never doze, fashion shows, being Gaga’s costume maker
More than short shorts
For this purple people eater
Perfect match to me! (Lady Gaga!?)

And now he spends every day just a-counting his dough
I saw his new things at the sold out show
Each time, he goes all out...he’s doing costumes and hair
I’m glad to see he wasn’t the only monster there!

Thanks Gaga!

Oh, do I remember the OS from the days when most people who were buying records were about 9 years old. We have come a long way and your parody fits the trend.

Fantastic original song (That's why I chose to do it too) and the parody was equally clever. I loved the fact that you kept onto the Purple People Eater but made him a loser looking for a job. Very biting satire!

Loved this, with the nod to Mr. Grimace and the wacky inclusion of Gaga!

(Ages) This is funny, just funny. So hilarious! I would've hired this purple people eater if he was working with me. Heck, he could talk to librarians for me and make calls all day. Prolly scare the poor librarians...or maybe entertain them with laughs, either way. Well, anyway, love the McDonalds about having "The Purple Man" at the job. But I'm glad that there's a happy ending for that purple people eater working for Lady Gaga. He is now a bonafide "Fame Monster". If I were Gaga, I would be lucky to have the purple guy working for me and making my costumes. 555.

(Ages) For some reason my brain thinks of Eduardo from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends when reading about this poor purple fellow. My brain's weird. Interesting idea, very well executed. 555! Oh hey, my security code is HEY. Huh.

(Ages 2011, Round 4) Very nice job, and as if it's hard enough for a human to find a job in this economy, it's impossible for a Flying Purple People Eater to. (for one, it will eat all the customers and co-workers). 5s.

(AofA) Even the Purple People Eater was hit hard by this economy! Great spin on a classic!

(AofA) It's tough out there. It's good to know good parodies can still be written! :)

The twist was what got me. Great work Abbott. First half was OK, but second half leading up to the twist was Awesome. And first half works to set up the second half
