The Lyrics

The weird 1880 Apache Knuckle-Duster extremist pistol was an odd combination of almost a no barrel pistol, knuckle-duster, and short mini-dagger blade for street fighting in the late 19th century. Carried by thugs the folded weapon was weignty and awkward for just knuckle-duster duty. One had to extend the duster to form a crude grip and extend the small forward dagger blade. This exposed the 5-shot revolver with a mini-barrel that had to be used at point-blank range to score any accurate hit. The dagger blade also had to be used the same way for any chance of a decent wound. There was no trigger guard so the weapon was dangerous in that it could be discharged just by bumping it or dropping it. And the duster could not be used when the weapon was unfolded as it acted as the grip! A desperation weapon, gimmick, and ultimately a totally ineffective weapon as it wasn't good at shooting, stabbing, nor hand fighting!
A knuckle-duster goof
meant for crime

Street toughs wanted something new
Folder weapon
Multi-use lessened

A weapon for bandits
Solution was found
Gun-knife combo dandy
Retraction and folding duster sound

[But crude construction was a let-down]

A knuckle-duster goof
meant for crime
Wasn’t kind

Point-blank use
Point-blank use
Point-blank use
Gun part had no real range
Short-point wounds fair
Awkward, weighty
Duster grip strange

[For the deranged]

Obscurity
A knuckle-duster goof
meant for crime
(No use for Apache]

Have you ever seen the Bourne Knuckleduster grip on an Iver Johnson revolver, or a bayonet (2 inch blade) on a Harrington & Richardson? The Apache knuckelduster was about a 7mm pinfire. Real powerhouse. I made a few cartrridges for one and the bullets barely cleared the barrel. Nowhere near as powerful as a .22 Short.

I've seen, owned, and fired a multitude of weapns in my lifetime but as far as weird ones I prefered the HK MP-5 Attache case, guns made of Damacus steel, caseless weapons, and the ARES folder... to name but a few...
