"Iron Sky" is a low-budget sci-fi parody of Finnish-German-Australian cooperation made for $8 million. It is dark, but immensely entertaining on many levels. You have a Palin-type US President up for re-election and sponsoring a moon landing on the dark side. Upon arrival the Nazis show up, kill one astronuat and capture another who is a Negro. Then the laughs start with the stereotypes, the romance between a sexy Aryan blonde (Julia Dietze) and the black astronaut, technology jokes, German disc craft, Nazi mentality, and more! Soon the Nazis invade with disc craft and huge hydrogen warships slinging meteorites at the earth. The laughs continue with a parodied UN arguing about solutions and then revelations of covert spaceships leading a counter-attack with the U.S.S. George W. Bush leading the way!!! The Nazis get nuked but survive and when all looks lost launch the largest weapon system in history- the Gotterdammerung that fires metallic hydrogen rounds that obliterate a third of the moon to target the earth! It all comes down to an interracial love affair to crash the mighty German weapon... but back on earth with the discovery of German mined He-3 on the moon the Allies turn against each other for mining rights and launch ICBMs all over the globe while the Nazis turn to peace and freedom! For a low budget film the actors are great and the SPFX are awesome. The disc designs were taken from Vril and Haunebu disc craft while the hydrogen spaceships are basically space Zeppelins! The Allied warships are a bunch of moduled contraptions except for the elegant GWB. The battles are great and so are the laughs. A must-see movie with a planned TV prequel series and a movie sequel!
