The Lyrics

Kurt Tank was Focke-Wulf's brilliant designer behind the Fw-190 series that led to the "long-nose" D-9 (or Dora) in 1944. With the Allies introducing long-range escort fighters and bombing higher, Tank went further beyond the D-11 and D-13 to high-altitude versions D-14 and D-15. But production delays of more advanced DB 603 engines led to using the 1880 hp Jumo 213E model and so the Ta 152 was born. This model had an even more stretched fuselage than the D-9 with wing mods to accommodate more fuel tanks. The plane was pressurized and had both GM-1 nitrous oxide boost and MW-50 methanol-water injection that could be used independently from one another to enhance performance. EWP raised hp to 2,250! Climb was over 3,350 fpm with a ceiling near 50,000 ft and speed of 472 mph. The C-series were standard fighter types armed with 1x 30mm MK-108 through the nose and 4x 20mm MG-151/20s in the wing roots and above engine. The H-0 was meant for high altitude recon and was unarmed while the H-1 had 1x 30mm MK 108 and 2x 20mm MG-151/20s in the wing roots. Both series were produced from very late 1944 to the spring of 1945. Only 67 models + 29 pre-production machines were built, so few ever saw combat. This was the end of the line for the Fw-190 series as Focke-Wulf was prototyping the Ta 183 jet fighter. Nevertheless, they were formidable machines.
Kurt Tank 1-5-2
from D-9

Designed for high altitude
50k spyin’
Jumo supplyin’

A two version bandit
Were hard to shoot-down
Production slowed badly
In ‘45 not many were found

Kurt Tank 1-5-2
from D-9
End of line

Was improved
Was improved
Was improved
Great speed and firepower
But none to spare
Loss of industry
Eleventh hour

Faced defeat
Kurt Tank 1-5-2
from D-9
(on fair terms hard to beat)
