The Lyrics

I've already written several parodies about the Messserschmitt Bf 109 and its history that spans a decade from 1935-45 and also postwar production and combat with Israel. This parody deals with production- the most produced aircraft of WW2 at over 35,000 and the most successful with over 15,000 kills and hundreds of aces made. The myth that the Bf 109 was obsolete by the last year of the war is false as proven by the latter G and K series that fought the bomber streams and the escorts. What the 109 faced was numerical superiority in men and machines- that's it. The K-4 of 1945 had just as good if not better engine than the Merlin with its DB 605 ASCM/DCM 2000 hp which enabled a climb of 4823 fpm, max. speed of 452 mph, and ceiling of 41,000 ft- all better than the last Spitfires and the D-model Mustang or Soviet Yak-9. It also had better armament with 2x 20mm MG-151s above the engine and 1x 30mm MK-108 or 103 firing through the prop spinner. This was augmented frequently with field conversion kits to mount 2x 30mm MK-108 under the wings which was formidable. Others mounted 55mm R4M unguided rockets or hauled huge 210-280mm rocket launchers to down heavy bombers. The pilots were highly skilled due to non-rotation after 6 years or more fighting (Spanish Civil War). The myth that they scored against inferior Soviet aircraft is also false. The Bf 109 was a medium altitude fighter so at lower altitudes it could be shot down by the better performing Yaks and at higher altitude could be hit by the MiG-3 and the latter Yak-9 was on equal terms at any altitude. Yet the Germans continued to produce the fighter in numbers. The Fw-190 series ran 20,000 planes as Germany's secondary fighter and after that was the jet Me-262 and the few He-162 jets that got into combat during the last 3 weeks of the war. There never really was a substitue for the Bf 109, the Me-309 program cancelled and jet conversion was prevailing. But the legendary "Augsburg Eagle" soldiered on and was even in inventory with France, Spain, Czechoslovakia, and sent to Israel to see combat postwar. The only other combat aircraft with such production was the Soviet Il-2 Sturmovik at 35,000. It used to be the old most produced but a review of the production records and estimates of real Bf 109 production places it over 35,000. The Bf 109 remains the greatest fighter of all-time with no exceptions postwar. It is doubtful any current or future fighter even in WW3 will score over 15,000 kills, not even with UCAV production!!!
