Am utterly devastated by the death of beloved Whitney Houston- the first Black female singer I ever took a liking to. Did not know that she was the first Black female to grace Seventeen magazine's cover and so many more accomplishments in life such as her second album "Whitney" which was the first female album to enter the Billboard charts at No.1. A multi-million singer of R&B plus mainstream Pop, she had a 5 octave voice that was soft, vibrant, sweet, and at times spectacular! But drug abuse and life with Bobby Brown wore her down into despair and she apparently could not cope any longer. A slow fall from the Top 10s in the 2000s and 2 failed come-backs. A tragedy for the music industry, her fans, and Black culture. She will be missed sorely :(
