Sommer-Ockenfuss made a series of custom weapons for the German HRU (Hostage Rescue Unit) GSG-9 from the late 1990s onward. GSG-9 also performs VIP protection and once the US Army allowed foreign business men back into Iraq, there was an incident where insurgents tried to ambush a German convoy with GSG-9. It didn't work as GSG-9 is trained for special driving skills and VIP protection. They protected the VIPS and got them tucked away under on overpass with their vehicles shielding them. They then took up defensive positions and fended off the attackers- killing many in a fierce firefight with no losses to themselves. They were facing AKs and RPGs but fought back with HKs, Pzf-3, and the new Sommer-Ockenfuss TW-50. It is believed, but not confirmed, that the German SEAL equivalent- KamphSwimmerKompanie (the other KSK) also use some of those weapons. They are little-known.
