I live in California, so this story made the news today, front page. It seems a GPS-collared lone gray wolf coded OR-7 is headed for the California border after a trek of 730 miles across Oregon. It is within 30 miles of the border and IF and WHEN it arrives, it will be the first wild wolf in California since 1924. Ranchers and hunters are upset, as usual, but now the wolf has wildlife protection and would be considered endangered when it arrives. It is the offspring of B-300 and OR-5. B-300 female came from Idaho and OR-5 male has been killing livestock in Oregon, but is still protected by Animal Rights activists. OR-7 is within 48 hrs of arriving here in Cali and it is being treated as a media event. I am excited b/c I defend wolves and have supported several charities to ensure that they survive.
