The Lyrics

The project Me-329 was a result of the need to replace the horrible Me-210. At the same time Dr. Wurster of Messerschmitt was designing the Me-329, Dr. Lippisch was designing his own delta Li P.10 and also the Me-410 was discussed. So there was a competition and the Me-329 won as heavy fighter powered by 2x DB 603s in nacelles and pusher props and armed with 7 cannons (4x MG-151/20s in the nose, 2x MK-103s in the wing roots, and another MG-151 for rear defense). It had a 26o wing sweep and a rear tail. But although a mock-up was built, development went slow and so the Me-410 beat it and got results. Near the end of the war at Rechlin some claim that the Me-329 V1 was tested as an unarmed glider and reached speeds near 500 mph clean in a dive. The powered version would in level flight achieve 492 mph with a range of over 1500 miles! Another What-If German secret weapon...
Me-329 flew
in early ‘45

Wurster and Lippisch deltas improved
Both designin’
For combat flyin’

Me-329 was fast bandit
Two DB 603s in nacelles
Armed with 7 cannons
Would be fast and hard to shoot down

Me-329 flew
in early ‘45
Glided fine

Multi-role
Multi-role
Multi-role
Heavy fighter first place
Too late for air
Wasn’t to be
Me-410 took its place

Nice wing sweep
Me-329 flew
in early ‘45
(close to 500 mph speed)

I always wondered if a rear pusher would be more vunerable with the engine facing aft and exposed. Puts tremendous pressure on a rear gunner unless the plane is super-fast!
