The Lyrics

Following the D-Day invasion, German officials became more receptive to the idea of a manned flying bomb. With war turning against them, the German high command grasped at just about any chance to turned the Allied tide. The manned Fi 103 (aka V-1) was a concept that even a year before would have been unthinkable. While the pilot was intended to aim the craft at the target and then bail out, the odds of success were very slim indeed due to the Argus pulsejet above the cockpit. The Fi 103 was designed to be launched from a He 111 and while 175 were produced, none were fired in anger. V/KG 200 was to be the unit responsible for their use and Hanna Reitsch herself promoted the idea, having flown both a prone V-1 and the R-IV version (although she herself would not be piloting one, instead organizing an all-female LW unit in March 1945). While none of the R-IVs were used in combat, the He-111 did launch many V-1s at Britain and other targets...
Reichenberg aimed at you

V/KG 200 wanted you

Armies closin’ ‘round
V-1 had proved deadly
Reichenberg IV would take them down

Reichenberg aimed at you

Amazing! I never knew that the Germans were gonna do land kamikaze! What would have been the ground targets???

I can't recall a single bail-out weapon that ever succeeded. Joseph Kennedy Jr died when his explosives laden B-24 exploded as he set the remote controls for bail out over the Channel.

Italians had a radio-controlled assault plane too. Four would group with one as remote-controller. The other three woudl eb manned and then bail-out near target: http://www.airwar.ru/image/idop/bpla/ar/ar-2.jpg

Although the Germans never used suicide craft, they did use Fw-190s to ram enemy aircraft in '44 and '45. Rammjaeger units. Fockes had reinforced wing leading edges and other armor upgrades.
