Roberta Cowell, (May 21, 1921), was the first known British male-to-female transsexual to undergo sex reassignment surgery. Born Robert Cowell, she was a Spitfire pilot in World War II and a racing driver after the war. She had a vaginoplasty on May 15, 1951, via a surgical method invented and performed by Dr. Harold Gillies. This occurred two years before Christine Jorgensen's surgery in Denmark. See links below...

WCJ, I don't know... 4 of my songs are missing (perhaps b/c they were submitted early in the morning of 5/31 and Chuck didn't get these up until late)... perhaps it will show up today...
Please note that Robert Cowell was shot-down in his Spitfire over the Ruhr in 1944 and was a POW in Stalag Luft 1 until liberated by the Soviets in May 1945... I have his/her book. Great read about a complex issue.
