The Lyrics

This is the story of one of three famous WW2 bail-outs without parachutes. In 1942 I.M. Chisov of the VVS bailed from his IL-4 from 22,000 ft and hit a snow-covered slope of a ravine, allowing him to slide for a distance. He injured his pelvis and had spine damage- but survived. A year later a USAAF airman Alan E. Magee bailed from a hit B-17 from 22,000 ft and smashed throught the glass roof of the St. Nazaire railroad station. Dumbfounded German troops took him to the hospital where it tok him 3 months to recover. And then there is RAF gunner Sgt. Nicholas Alkemade that jumped 18,000 ft from his burning Lancaster bomber and hit a line of fir trees in one and a half feet of snow. Miraculously, he had only minor injuries. The Germans were going to shoot him as a spy until he showed them his snap hooks on his chute harness went unused. He became a POW...
RAF gunner fell- no chute
during wartime

Sgt. Alkemade, gunner in WW2
Slow night flyin’
Wasn’t afraid of dyin’

Lanc hit by a German bandit
Flames spreadin’ all around
Chute rack turned to cinders
18,000 ft bail-out, gonna hit the ground

RAF gunner fell- no chute
during wartime
Hit the tree line

He fell through
He fell through
He fell through
He fell through somehow
The Germans didn’t care,
were gonna shoot him
Harness unused-became POW

Beyond “lucky”
RAF gunner fell- no chute
during wartime
(saved by the trees)

Oh, "Chute!" ;-D lots of soldiers jumping without parachutes, and living, kinda reminds me of Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner! Beep Beep! ;-D But great parody Rob, and great stories too! :-) 5's for these great true tales!

STRANGER things have happened during WW2 like Rommel and the Coca-Cola story in N Africa; the dead LW pilot of the BoB; the last air duel in liason a/c with a pistol; Hitler's issuing of Western novels to his Generals; the bizarre Bell Device; the Phildelphia Experiment; American bat bombs; Russian dog mines; Japanese balloon bombs; weather manipulation; bird war; and lots of other weirdness that I will eventually get arounf to!!!
