The Lyrics

The Nakajima Kikka was a smaller version of the Me-262 that was built using U-boat transferred photos of the BMW 003 jet engines and German jet aircraft. It was smaller and the Japanese had to fabricate the jet engines from scratch which is amazing how fast they tried to catch up in late 1944- Aug 1945. The Ne-20 was underpowered though at 1074 lb st compared to 1980 lb st of the Jumo 004B Orkan engine. Najakima had some early troubles but got the Kikka into the air before surrender. A more powerful version equal to the Me-262 was the Nakajima Ki-201 Karyu (Fire Dragon) that was under construction. It was to be powered by 1900-2200 lb thrust Ne-130, 230, and 330 jet engines and mount 2x 30mm cannon and 1x 20mm as fighter/interceptor instead of a fast strike bomber that the Kikka (Orange Blossom) was meant for...
Japanese jet of World War II
Barely flew in time…

A product of German origin
Based on photos of German jet engines
“Orange Blossom” barely flyin’

Nakajima built it
To turn the air war around
The Kikka was needed badly
But as a “fast strike bomber” was not sound

Japanese jet of World War II
Barely flew in time…
Wasted development time

The Kikka flew
The Kikka flew
The Kikka flew
On Ne-20s, Takaoka got it in the air somehow
But it was underpowered
And the second flight aborted
With misaligned RATOG bottles

Based on the German Me-262
Japanese jet of World War II
Barely flew in time…
(18 prototypes on the assembly line)

Interesting airplane, fortunately not produced in time to alter the war.
