Borg invaded Fluidic Space in 2373 and were repelled by Species 8472 which operate in a bio environment using biotechnology as defense. Extremely cunning and invulnerable to human and Borg weapons, the only thing that could bring the Undine down was contamination of a bio weapon based on nanoprobes. In return for cooperation, Voyager was allowed to pass through Borg Space in the Delta Quadrant unharmed.
