The Lyrics
In 1942, Krupp proposed the largest tank in history- the P.1000 Landkreuzer (Land cruiser) which Hitler named Ratte (Rat). This had a weight of 1000 tons, far heavier than the PzKpfw VIII Maus at 188 tons! Main gun was a variant of a naval 280mm artillery cannon SK C34 used by KMS Gneisenau. Speer as armaments minister put it to a stop in 1943. All old records claim the tank was never built. This is only partially true. The turret with 280mm single gun was completed and was moved to the Atlantic Wall in Norway off Kristiansand. It is the only naval gun in a tank turret in the Atlantic Wall and it still remains in place.
