The Lyrics
Little-known is the German presence on Alexandra Island in the Artic circle from 1942-44. It was a metrological site and also possibly a base to hunt for ancient artifacts known as "Schatzgraber" or "Treasure Finder." The Germans gathered weather information, but had to emergency pull out by U-boat in 1944 due to becoming sick from bad polar bear meat. From 1942 until the 1990s the Nazi base was the only presence on the barren island until Russian explorers got there...
