This could by Munich x 10. The gay hype is useful cover for lefties who really plan to stay away because of the terrorist threat. Putin is a no-good SOB, no doubt. I'd still vote for him over Obama. Putin certainly loves his native land. Obama does not, wherever that land may be.
I agree that Putin is the greater patriot, resentful of the Cold War loss and break-up of the USSR... but his "manliness" of riding horses and fighting bears bare-chested and flexing for cameras in homo-erotic poses goes against his ideas of basic morality for Russia. One standard for him and another for Gays. Madonna and Gaga were both threatened with jail when visiting and now with the Olympic threat of terrorism has softened his stance by saying he is only "protecting children!"
