The Lyrics

During the Cypriot Crisis from 1954-59, EOKA Guerillas that fought for unification with Greece used many improvised weapons against the occupying British that were armed with Enfields and Sterling SMGs. This shotgun below is an example of how crude the improvisation was. It was a 20 bore made from two steel tubes with a hinge for break-away loading. Although not explained from the source I got the pic, the upper trigger suggests a spring loaded firing mechanism with simple release and a wire stock! The EOKA pistol was worse, made from a spent 20mm cartridge serving as a barrel for black powder round actually wired to a crude wooden formed grip! Firing was by lighting a hole in the top! Most simply exploded! I don't know how accurate the EOKA Shotgun was, but again, this is a short-range weapon. Very short. The British had far better conventional arms...
EOKA gun was crude
crisis time

20 bore shotgun made from tubes
One round holdin’
Break-away loadin’

Weapon for Cypriots
Guerillas were bound
Some came in handy
Others often had severe breakdowns

[Designs were crude and often not sound]

EOKA gun was crude
Was crisis time
‘Til ‘59

Far too crude
Was abused
Little use
Against armed British troops
Made with no care
Sense of urgency
Misfired, so… Oops!!!

[Had lots of goofs]

Simplicity
EOKA gun was crude
Was crisis time
(Desperation emergency)

Makes you wonder what improvised weapons could be made in the U.S.A. if an uprising occurred? Lowes and Home Depot have quality materials and so do others. I wonder what the lowest standard would be- the dreaded K-mart Gun ;-)

Making a gun barrel from a fired 20mm shell is an act of sheer desperation. Makes the Clerke First revolver look like a finely tuned Colt. Years ago Life or Look magazine had an article on how teenage gangsters in New York City were making .22 pistols out of car antennas and the tube that held the basket in an old fashioned coffee pot. I like weird guns, but I've never been that desperate.
