The Lyrics

At the end of WW2 the Soviets discovered the windtunnel models and full-scale mock-up of the Ju EF-126 Elli which was to be the Reich's last-ditch miniature fighter built with scrap metal and wood and powered by the V-1's pulsejet Argus 109-044. It would have been launched by a parent aircraft (Ju-88G-6) and have a speed of 485 mph with just 25-45 minutes to operate in theater depending on power settings. It would be armed with 2x 20mm MG-151/20 cannons and 24x 55mm R4M unguided rockets for attacking bomber streams. Upon last drop of fuel, it would glide back to base and land on a two-part skid with wingtip skids as well. In any event, the Soviets allowed the Germans at the Dessau plant to build 2 prototypes by May 1946. Test pilot Matthias flew unpowered twice. The first time was a success, but he died in the second attempt due to being short of the airfield boundary. He nosed-dived the craft to pick-up speed to extend the glide, but then came in too fast and hit the ground, flipped 3 times, and died. The Soviets then moved V2 to the USSR with Junkers engineers and pilots. Two more were built there while one was built in occupied Germany at Dessau. The prototypes V3 and V4 flew unpowered while copies of the 044 engine were being made. In Germany, the Junkers Jumo 226 pulsejet was also being fabricated. But a Ju-88G-6 caught fire testing that engine and crashed. The Soviets left the other prototypes out in the open during the Russian Winter of '47 and so the aircraft were in bad shape in 1948 when the program was finally terminated!!! Neither the Nazis nor the Reds got any real use out of the EF-126. Pics below are of the craft in 1948 (possibly the V4).
EF 1-2-6 doomed
hard to fly

The miniature fighter was crude
Non-strategic
Pulse jet was real weak

The Reds kept the project
Which was eastward bound
Second flight was deadly
Dived nose-down and impacted the ground

[Pilot Matthias’ body found]

EF 1-2-6 doomed
Was hard to fly
Built: 5

Had good view
Made with wood
Twin guns too
Had massive vibration
Slow in the air
No gear, just skidding
Cancellation

[Time was wasted]

Did not succeed
EF 1-2-6 doomed
Was hard to fly
(Jumo 226 did not proceed)
