The Lyrics

The 10.6mm Reichs Revolver originated with the Second Reich and lasted until the Third- approx. 6 decades! It was started in the 1870s as a field pistol for the German Army and came in two versions- the 7" barrel M79 and the 5" barrel M83. Both were solid-frame designs with a simple cylinder that held 6 rds. After firing the shooter simply pulled the axis pin and removed the cylinder and then punched-out the cases and reloaded, reinserting the cylinder and pin. Althought the P-08 Luger replaced the RR, it remained in second line service throughout WW1 and afterwards were passed around to police and offered to the civilian market. It was produced by 5 different firms: Mauser, Haenel, Spangenberg, Schilling, and Koniglich. Ammunition was so plentiful that it lasted until 1939 when WW2 broke out. There are some claims that the GermanArmy passed on RRs to the Waffen SS along with the old Lugers and C-96s... but I have never seen a photo with the Waffen SS using it at all.

Made some ammo once for a Model 1874 French revolver. Made the mistake of selling the gun. Gave the left over ammo to a friend who shot it in his Reichs Revolver. Worked fine.

I'll never forget one 4th of July when a close friend showed me an ancient Frommer "Stop" in 7.65mm that had a rusted barrel and was in poor condition. He had lubed it up and was gonna fire that thing with old ammo. I told him "no way" and he still wanted to fire it for his kids. I had no choice but to borrow it and go into his garage, vice it, and smash it to pieces! It would have blown up in his face had he attempted to shoot it and might have injured his kids. Some people should NOT have guns!!!
