The Lyrics

In the early 1900's a city planning commission in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil decided to fight recurrent epidemics of smallpox, malaria, and bubonic plague, while rebuilding the city at the same time. Thousands of poor people were evicted and their wretched hovels and tenements torn down. Government agents entered homes by force and vaccinated people against their will. Rumors circulated that the vaccine was intended to sterilize or poison people. A popular uprising occurred that left 30 dead, 110 wounded, and hundreds more deported to an unpopulated wilderness area. Look up "Vaccine Revolt" on Wikipedia. "Prick", as used here, refers to a vaccination needle. What did you think I meant, you naughty boy?
I put a prick in you
Not so fine

Gonna stop what those 'skeeter's do
I be tryin'
You ain't dyin'

The city can't stand it
Bugs flyin' around
You ought to know better
I'm gonna spray till I put them down

You raised some hell with me
Because you're scared
You're scared

Resistin'
Resistin'
Resistin'
I'll stick you anyhow

And I don't care
You put up a fight
I'm here right now

Gonna vaccinate you
Because I can
Brazil has a long history of internal wars and uprisings. In 1898 the army was deployed in an assault against a religiously organized community which had been accused of heresy, sexual misconduct, financial fraud, banditry and a host of other crimes, mostly unproven innuendo. The city of Canudos was leveled by cannon shot, and finally burned out with fire and dynamite. Over 25,000 people may have died, and many of the survivors were murdered on the spot with the women being sold into prostitution.

Phred Phlips is related to an English name for horse's arse.
