The Lyrics
An old codger who lives on Cape Cod
Tends his assets in fashion quite odd.
He can spend as he'd wish
(Often smelling of fish)
From his cache in his bucket of scrod.[1]
Dale, a Bay Stater out by the water,
Hid his lottery prize from his daughter.
Later cops spotted Gail
Rowing off with his pail;
She's in jail with no bail, now they've caught 'er.[2]
Martha's Vineyard's home isle for old Flynn,
Who felt guilt that he'd loaned out his PIN —
Card's account drained, wild Nell,
At that Vegas hotel,
Used his cash for her dash into Sin.[3]
An entrepreneur from 'the Sault'
Had a wild child, so what could he do?
He's invented the 'Tucket,
A pass-secured bucket.
Get online, and he'll sell one to you.[4]
Old Chuck was a feisty Canuck,
Who treasured his mask, stick and puck,
'Til his daughter's vile crime
(Stole Dad's team's on-ice time):
Lost in ruckus: Dad's puck — such bad luck.[5]
When a poet grew pot quite sublime
For compassionate use, in Nanaim-
o, son Sasha, a nurse,
Stole his cash, stash and verse.
(Note to self: rhyme 'Nantucket' next time.) [6]
Your discourse on the moeurs of Nantucket
Yields tut-tuts and a curse; you can't buck it.
In the mind of a prude
Most terse verses are crude —
So, concluding, suggest that they chuck it. [7]

[3] OEDILF #95850: Old Flynn, from the island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, bears similarities to an ancestor who lived on the nearby island of Nantucket and was the subject of a classic well-loved limerick. Both of these seniors suffered at the hands of dissolute daughters.
[4] OEDILF #T459424: Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, on the St. Mary River, is known casually by inhabitants and visitors as the Sault (SOO). French colonists had referred to the rapids on the river as les saults de Ste Marie (SOH).
[5] OEDILF #95561: Hockey has a unique role in Canada, where it is said to function as a foundation of national identity, as well as a national sport.
[6] OEDILF #95559: Growing marijuana seems to be a major activity on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, centred in the city of Nanaimo (nuh-NAHY-moh). ..... It is unlikely that Nanaimo will successfully challenge the dominance in limericks currently held by Nantucket.
