The Lyrics

The Oshkosh company was founded in 1895 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin..Originally mfgd. men's work clothings, overalls, pants, etc.....Recently becoming a victim of outsourcing.. now only manufacture childrens overalls, and other clothing in Mexico and Honduras...a small outlet still remains in Wisconsin, but in the adult line only - selling shirts, sweaters, and other apparel.
Oh, they made 'em in Wisconsin,
Gave the buttons brassy shine
Folks would strap 'em on in winter
And the good ol' summertime
Were made to fit the short guys
They were made to fit the talls
On the farms, and in small towns
Wore them Oskosh Overalls..

Oh, just listen to the swish, swish,
Still flappin' in the breeze
It's the old call of the Heartland,
Central states between the seas
They'd be there on line every Monday
Before internets and malls
Even went to church on Sunday
Bless them Oshkosh Overalls

(steel guitar - not to be interpreted as "steal guitar")

Great slogan, "Oshkosh B'gosh"
To announce their famous brand
A name that's well remembered
By old bodies in the land
Now their "Bib-lical" time has ended,
Down in Mexico, take calls
But only stitch the kid size
Of the Oshkosh Overalls..

Oh, just listen to the swish, swish,
They're flappin' in the breeze
It's the old call of the Heartland,
Central states between the seas
They'd be there on line every Monday
Before internets and malls
Even went to church on Sunday
Bless the Oshkosh Overalls

(guitar)

Just listen to the swish, swish,
They're flappin' in the breeze
It's the old call of the Heartland,
Central states between the seas
They'd be there on line every Monday
Before internets and malls
Even worn to church on Sunday
Bless the Oshkosh Overalls

Good old Oshkosh Overalls....

A moving tribute to a much-loved American company - sadly the demise of such operations seems to happening the world over. I'm sorry you're getting uno-bombed again - hopefully you'll get a few more much-deserved 555's to balance it out.

Don't know co. in question but I love this old song and can see you've attired yourself with another winner. I hope L.L. Bean doesn't share the same fate. It's the only place I can find American sizes, so I'll end up walking around practically naked. Size fives.

When Dizzy Dean, the erstwhile great baseball pitcher, was briefly the play-by-play radio announcer for the New York Yankees, ca. 1950, he would often sing Wabash Cannonball to the mystified New York fans.
