This old boat is docked for winter
this old boat is off the sea
this old boat has seen some storms and calms
quite weathers we've been in
Yet her hull is sound and solid
yet her mast so proud and stout
though her diesel's worn and battered
still her sails are white and sound

We're gonna fix this boat for oceans
we're gonna fix this boat for seas
We're gonna fixing all the chainplates
we're gonna fix the lights and cleats
We're gonna paint on antifouling
we're gonna install all new head
we're gonna check the running rigging
so much work, I wish was dead!

This old boat's seen many a summer
she is thirty years or so
though her cabin's worn and weathered
and her cooker, it won't go
Need to fix the skylight sealings
as the summer nights are damp
there is so much stuff to mend and fix -
she is like a labor camp!

We're gonna fix this boat for oceans
we're gonna fix this boat for seas
We're gonna fixing all the stays and shrouds
we're gonna fix the pulleys, sheets
We're gonna check the reefing system
we're gonna also check the boom
if the anchor is not safe and sound
it sure will spell the doom

This old boat has seen the thunders
this old boat survived the storms
This ole boat just groans and trembles
makes me wish I wasn't born!
Yet the weathers they get warmer
and the days are getting light
as we're toiling every weekend
she will sure be quite a sight -

we're gonna fix the keel and rudder
we're gonna check the hull for leaks
We're gonna check the mains and seacocks
we're gonna fix companionway
and soon it's time for vacation -
we're gonna sail both night and day!
