The Lyrics

TOS was in the stage version of The Sound Of Music, but left out of the movie. In a cruel irony, the financial crisis we're now in, and which has caused Senator McCain to lose ground in the polls, might have been prevented if a bill he co-sponsored had been passed. But, we'll never really know for sure, will we? "GSE" stands for government-sponsored enterprise.
A crazy guy who thinks that he's a maverick
And up his sleeve it seems that he might have a trick
He may be bent on being our next president
But up against Obama, he looks hesitant

He's old, John McCain, and so young is Barack
You should reach across the aisle, don't be a winger
If I reach out my hand, should I then watch my back?
If you reach across the aisle, then count your fingers

Well I know that it may seem like such a bother
But I think we ought to study how we got here

Two G-S-E's were run by greedy people
With million-dollar bonuses and homes
With ACORN, they extorted those commercial banks
To give out sub....prime....loans

But McCain tried to stop it
Yes, McCain tried to stop it
Yes, we should give him credit 'cause he tried
But the Dems would not have it
They told Mac where to stick it
And the G-S-E's would take us for a ride

While noticing the problems with securities
Could make our finance system go astray
McCain and sev'ral others then proposed a bill
But Democrats....said....NAY!

But McCain tried to stop it
Yes, McCain tried to stop it
Yes, he warned us back in two thousand five
But the Dems said "don't worry"
Yes, the Dems said "don't worry"
And the greedy leftwing C-E-O's would thrive

There's Raines, for one
Now that they're done,
Just who will be responsible?
Whose pockets will be opened?
Who's paying for this rescue?
We!

Now lots of crazy congressmen and senators
All think the world revolves around themselves
They think they are the center of the universe
Yeah, they can go....to....well

But McCain tried to stop it
Yes, McCain tried to stop it
But the left can't admit the this is true
'Cause if they gave him credit
If they could give him credit
They'd cause pigs to fly, while wearing lipstick, too

True, true, true
Thanks to certain Democrats, we're screwed!

Excellent work, here! And, BTW, I didn't know that tidbit of SOM trivia and thank you for the link... Now you should tackle "McCain in vain is hoping for a reign" or "... is playing up 'Hussein'!"

I was unaware of TOS (until today), but it seems like it is good and funny enough to have been in the movie.

But the parody is well done, particularly the pig/lipstick line. I also like the reference to Franklin Raines, who, in 5 years, earned $90 million as CEO of Fannie Mae while mismanaging the institution and overstating profits. Of course, Mr. Raines should be given credit for giving up his Fannie Mae stock options - now that they are worthless.
