When Simple Simon builds a camp, he doesn't really care
if place which has been chosen is a bog or marshland bare
His camp is filthy, dirty, you can know it by its smell -
But Simple Simon thinks "Oh well, it's one night just to dwell"
Manana! Manana! We'll move tomorrow on the dryer ground
Manana! Manana! But today I am now into hunting bound!

His tent is stained with mildew and it's slovenly set up
An ugly hole can be seen at roof just at the very top
But Simon doesn't care if center pole might be off-set -
tea-water for tomorrow straight through tent roof he will get!
Manana! Manana! That hole is quite nasty, yes I knew
Manana! Manana! Tomorrow I might find a time to sew...

Now Simon goes for hunting and his gun is on his back
It's unsecured, but he knows that he is a hunter crack -
He shoots just anything that moves, he doesn't care to aim
his hunting skills just can't reveal if it's to kill or maim!
Manana! Manana! This is my rifle - and this is my gun!
Manana! Manana! This is for fighting and this is for fun!

It's evening and a fire has been set up so that gale
can blow the sparks and smoke just over hill and over dale
And fire creeps into the turf just like a snake would do -
it finds a place where it can start a forest fire quite soon!
Manana! Manana! I'll check a better place for that fire -
Manana! Manana! But beer is just now what I do desire!

You don't just want to be like Simple Simon, so take care -
it's wits and skills and care which counts - remember to beware -
Simple Simon he postpones tomorrow everything -
But better think right now and do it well so you can sing:
Ahora! Ahora! We act right now and use our common sense!
Ahora! Ahora! Slopp'ness and neglect has no defense!
