The Lyrics

Don't laugh - back in the seventies the Library Board of town Kemi, Finland, suggested unsubscribing Donald Duck on Kemi libraries' children's departments. The reason they insisted was that Donald Duck was immoral: Donald Duck didn't wear pants, he wasn't married to Daisy and lived in a broken family. In addition (since Kemi used to be a very red town) Donald Duck was presumed to be Imperialist indoctrination and attempting to brainwash innocent children on Capitalist ideas. Needless to say, Ariel Dorffman's and Armand Mattelart's book "Para leer Pato Donald (How to read Donald Duck)" was well worn on the hands of the Library Board. This story would be tragicomically ridiculous if it didn't happen to be true. It made to news in as far as Thailand.
Donald Duck he has no pants, ee-i-ee-i-o
That did cause a lot of rants, ee-i-ee-i-o
Lefties wooed and audience booed
Disney as porn was almost sued;
Donald Duck he has no pants, ee-i-ee-i-o

Donald has not Daisy wed, ee-i-ee-i-o
That's immoral, those folks said, ee-i-ee-i-o
Lefties cried and messed and whined
Thought they'd Donald Duck K-lined
Donald has not Daisy wed, ee-i-ee-i-o

Donald is a single dad, ee-i-ee-i-o
That's a family model bad, ee-i-ee-i-o
Lefties said and statement made
libraries should have Disney forbade
Donald is a single dad, ee-i-ee-i-o

Nephews are a but bunch of geeks, ee-i-ee-i-o
Bad for child who role model seeks, ee-i-ee-i-o
They are wimps and they are nerds,
Lefties said, they are social re-tards
Nephews are a but bunch of geeks, ee-i-ee-i-o

Capitalist pig is Scrooge McDuck, ee-i-ee-i-o
He's example of the Yankee muck, ee-i-ee-i-o
Exploits the poor and Don shows the door
He yearns for money all the more and more
Capitalist pig is Scrooge McDuck, ee-i-ee-i-o

Dorffman said and Mattelart, ee-i-ee-i-o
Disney will make you retard, ee-i-ee-i-o
It's brainwash and Yankee trash
and Disney will get all your cash
Dorffman said and Mattelart, ee-i-ee-i-o

If you think this song is fun, ee-i-ee-i-o
Common sense it just has none, ee-i-ee-i-o
I can tell you this story is true,
Some people just can't tell tales from truth
Some folks have their wits far gone, ee-i-ee-i-eo

Finland, Finland, we have a problem!

Susanna, I can't make no pacing sense of the way you handle lines 3 and 4. Maybe you are using a/the Finn version of this song? I encountered the same problem when I decided to use this song for a tribute to Malcolm Higgins (the first writer here to reach 1000 parodies: Lines 3 and 4 in the Swedish version is somewhat different in the Swedish version so I had to sing through the English version a lot before I got that part right too.

That said I think the parody was funny, we had a similar debate originating from the red side in Sweden when I grow up. But now they are covering up bare-chested ancient greek statues in the congress building of the USA, maybe we were just pioneers of the Victorian renaissance...? :-)

Ooh, I like the topic for a parody, and you handled it very well. Never seen an Old McDonald parody before, so well done! Great stuff :)

It was a cartoon, don't forget. Donald adopted Huey, Dewey, and Louie - their parents must have died. He was covered because he had feathers. He was courting Daisy. That is one thing I never could understand about cartoon characters. Donald and Popeye et al were not married, yet they had kids to raise and love interests.

I didn't know there were different melodies for Finnish and US lyrics! K1chyd, good point - perhaps that explains the low pacing scores :-(

Then I could picture him singing Skinnamarinky dinky dink.
