Original Song Title:

"Don't Let's Be Beastly To The Germans"

Original Performer:

Noel Coward

Parody Song Title:

"Don't Let's Be Beastly To The Racists"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

What Noel Coward might have made of Donald Trump's reaction to the shenanigans in Charlottesville

Based on this version of the OS (as there are many others with different verses around)
Don't let's be beastly to the racists
When their bigotry's unutterably dumb
They self-identify as Nazis
Think they're better 'cause they're white
But aren't they much more cuddly
When renamed to "alt-right"?
Let's be nice to them
Give lots of good advice to them
And try to forget how nasty they've become
Let's give them hardly any grief
And let them march, armed to the teeth
But don't let's be beastly to those scum!

We must be kind,
And with an open mind
We must endeavour to find a way
To let the racists know that we have mulled it over:
That other side is just as bad as they

It has to be
So when the racists see
Us topple the General Lee
We mustn't let them feel upset,
Or ever get the feeling
That we're cross with them or hate them,
Official policy is damn near to fellate them.

Don't let's be beastly to the racists
The cesspool of fear and hatred they've become
Let's try not to point out to them
That they have come to be
The irrefutable disproof
Of white supremacy

Let's not shout at them
And day by day point out to them:
Though slavery's gone, they still should not be glum
We shan't be sharp and bicker-y
E'en though they're all swastika-y
No, don't let's be beastly to those scum

Don't let's be beastly to the racists
The Confed'racy's return still hasn't come
Though there may be some who feel
That losing slaves is such a loss
To fly that Dixie flag makes
More than just the Southern cross

Let's all say to them
That KKK's OK again
Though it's hard for the SJWs to stay schtumm
Let's try to build rapport again
Not fight the Civil War again
So don't let's be beastly to those scum!

555 for "swastika-y" alone, ha-ha! Not that I'm getting on this subject/bandwagon, but if I did I'll probably go with "The KKK took my statue away" to The Ramones "The KKK took my baby away", I mean it even has the word "president" in it already!

This is an excellent parody, faithful in sarcastic gentility and construction to the OS. Hate them– fellate them; Southern Cross: I love it. 5s.

Great stuff -- ditto on "swastika-y" but the whole thing is classic Phil. Also, Peter, I can't believe I'm not the only one who knows that Ramones song -- that's a great parody title

Shame about our losing World War II and the Cold War... but there's always next time, right, Phil?

Lot o' racist apologists out there, judging from the votes.

Oh stop it, Wow! .. You know damn well where all those votes are coming from. There aren't twelve people downvoting this parody. It's more like two, or even one. And the motive is personal animus towards Phil, but youknew that as well

^ So where did all the downvotes for "Alt-Right (-Left) Thugs" come from? Personal animus towards Jeff Moran? Wow cited that, too, and his diagnosis is right in both cases.

Phil loves pandering to the Left. He's a gutless turd!

Lot of upvotes from ignorant partisans who didn't watch the actual video, judging by your inane comments:

Yeah, real peaceful, these "peaceful" protesters; if you accept the hypocritical leftists' unlikely claim that peace comes from ordering the cops to stand down and let two factions of racist, fascist thugs (ALL of whom hate the Jews, by the way) beat on each other with bricks and bats and boards.

Treat these rallies this week as you would the opening of a thoughtful movie with two female leads: don’t show up.

The problem with the spam voting is that it's generally common with political parodies. No matter which side you're on, there's always going to be someone with enough time on his hands clearing out his cookies so he can vote again. It's been like that for years.

A vote of 111 is just lik a vote of 555, but from a sad sack.

We sure didn't see any of this pearl-clutching from you bleeding-heart hypocrites back during the black supremacist BLM's Dallas Police Massacre.
Phil Alexander - August 21, 2017 - Report this comment
Ah, it's amusing to be called a "gutless turd" by someone too cowardly to use their own name, and probably too dim to realize the irony. Not to mention the brainless conflation of BLM with "black supremacy".. it's kind of sad just how little self-awareness (well, any kind of awareness, thinking about it) some people have when posting so very bravely* behind pseudonyms.

@Peter - not a song I'm familiar with.. will have a look at some point

@Al - :-) I'm glad someone got the "southern cross" joke

Claude, Max & anyone else honest enough to use their real (well, Amiright author) names, thanks :-)

*comments here could really do with some kind of sarcasm tag...

By Southern Cross, you are conflating the burning crosses with that big X in the Confederate flag. BTW, doesn't that "X" look vaguely familiar to you? It should, as that very same "X" appears in the flag of the United Kingdom. It's the cross of St Andrew -- the rallying symbol of the Scots in their wars against the aggressors from the South. And because most of the foot soldiers of the Confederacy were descendants of Scots, and Protestant Irish, and Welsh and Northern English, this became a potent symbol to rally these folks against aggressors -- from the North this time ....... When you think about it, it's an amazing symbol; it has the same color scheme as Old Glory AND thirteen stars
Phil Alexander - September 04, 2017 - Report this comment
CML - the "Southern Cross" is an alias of the Rebel/Dixie flag according to most of the articles I've read on the subject, it's not conflation with something else (especially burning crosses) so much as an alternative name for the same thing. Hadn't realized that it was another St Andrew's Cross iteration, but I guess that makes sense.
