"Inchworm"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Grow little inchworm, stretch, be longer
Show up the other worms, grow stronger
Crawl out from that big leaf you're under
Hit the gym, work out like thunder

Hey little inchworm, switch to metrics
I'll get you on Dave's stupid pet tricks
We'll show 'em some great somersaults
And how to dance the waltz..

Shine little inchworm, nature's treasure
I am a tailor, help me measure
I've gotta stitch this new tuxedo
Need your assistance in Toledo

How is your lit up cousin, glow worm
Compared to you, he's really no worm
You're the dazzle dog, he's just a pup
Never could measure up..

Hump little inchworm, pull contractions
Tease all the females with sexy actions
Bump a cabbage, say, beg your pardon
Blend with tomatoes in the garden

You're not a bad worm, you're no meanie
Not a grinchworm, just a greenie
Took a close look, at your short legs
They're handy little pegs

South for the winter, you won't thatch out
Under a leaf, as egg,you hatch out
Fill your tummy, grow and spread it
Too small, your old skin, so, just shed it

It's time for that next transformation
Fly and show off your new creation
Become a moth, eat cloth desserts
But please, not my T shirts..

Please not my T shirts

How is this funny? Something tells me that if you wrote about the birds and the bees it would literally be about birds and bees! And although a long parody, it goes nowhere. It's like intellectuals that spend hours talking and yet say nothing! 1s buddy, but 5 for pacing.

Where's your sense of humour, ????

..are you seriously trying to tell me that the mental image of an inchworm in a tux doing tricks & somersaults holds no humour for you whatsoever? Damn, but I'm glad I don't live in your head :-)

Great visuals and bizarre humor. Loved it, AFW.

Thanks for your comments and votes, Phil, and Warren...appreciate it

Totally agree with Phil on this. If ??? knows what's funny and what isn't, ??? should come up with a screen name and start posting parodies, rather than throwing insults at those brave enough to make the effort. Or is it possible that ??? has already tried that and got ignored or rejected and is now trying get back at others on the site?

Thanks, TS...you bring up some good points, there...Nothing wrong with good constructive criticism, but they seem bent on destructive criticism...ah yes, who was it once said, "If life was easy, everybody'd be doin' it."

This needs to be performed by the Muppets. Made me smile!

Johnny Mercer wrote the parody more than 60 years ago:
Shine little glow-worm, glimmer, glimmer
Shine little glow-worm, glimmer, glimmer
Lead us lest too far we wander
Love's sweet voice is calling yonder
Shine little glow-worm, glimmer, glimmer
Hey, there don't get dimmer
Light the path below, above
And lead us on to love!

Glow little glow-worm, fly of fire
Glow like an incandescent wire
Glow for the female of the species
Turn on the AC and the DC
This night could use a little brightnin'
Light up you little ol' bug of lightnin'
When you gotta glow, you gotta glow
Glow little glow-worm, glow

Glow little glow-worm, glow and glimmer
Swim through the sea of night, little swimmer
Thou aeronautical boll weevil
Illuminate yon woods primeval
See how the shadows deep and darken
You and your chick should get to sparkin'
I got a gal that I love so
Glow little glow-worm, glow

Glow little glow-worm, turn the key on
You are equipped with taillight neon
You got a cute vest-pocket Mazda
Which you can make both slow and fazda
I don't know who you took a shine to
Or who you're out to make a sign to
I got a gal that I love so
Glow little glow-worm, glow
Put on a show worm
Glow little glow-worm, glow

And Frank Loesser wrote an original:
Inch worm, inch worm
Measuring the marigolds
You and your arithmetic
You'll probably go far.

Inch worm, inch worm
Measuring the marigolds
Could it be you'd stop and see
How beautiful they are?

Two and two are four
Four and four are eight
Eight and eight are sixteen
Sixteen and sixteen are thirty-two.

Inch worm, inch worm
Measuring the marigolds
You and your arithmetic
You'll probably go far.

Two and two are four
Four and four are eight
Eight and eight are sixteen
Sixteen and sixteen are thirty-two.

Inch worm, inch worm
Measuring the marigolds
Seems to me you'd stop and see
How beautiful they are.

Inch worm, inch worm
Measuring the marigolds
You and your arithmetic
You'll probably go far.

Two and two are four
Four and four are eight
Eight and eight are sixteen
Sixteen and sixteen are thirty-two.

"Das Glühwürmchen", known in English as "The Glow-Worm", is a song from Paul Lincke's 1902 operetta Lysistrata, with German lyrics by Heinz Bolten-Backers. In the operetta, it is performed as a trio with three female solo voices singing alternately and the women's chorus joining in the refrain. Rhythmically, it is in the form of a gavotte. The song, with its familiar chorus, was translated into English and became an American popular song.
It was originally translated into English by Lilla Cayley Robinson, in the early 20th century, and was used in the 1907 Broadway musical The Girl Behind The Counter.
American lyricist Johnny Mercer later expanded and greatly revised Robinson's lyrics, for the 1952 recording by the Mills Brothers. His version was a hit for the Mills Brothers, and it has been performed by several others.

The roots of music run deep, and wide are the variations....Anyone who attacks inch worm humor must be a Grinch worm......In my humble opinion , you've measured up to your task , AFW, quite successfully 5^5^5^
