"Carbon Is A Greenhouse Gas"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

The global warming scare brigade
They delight in causing terror
But I reckon they harm their case
With basic science errors

Here's something I caught that seemed.. quite amusing:
That carbon is a greenhouse gas
That's not what I thought, must be.. so confusing
For "meeja" dead-heads,
Who've never seen a pencil lead

I regard
That carbon's hard
And has way more than gaseous mass
Where'd they get the notion
[It] dissolves in the ocean?
Carbon is a greenhouse gas?

I heard on the news - they were very explicit
That carbon is a greenhouse gas
Newsreader confused, and it ain't clever, is it?
Calling graphite "gas"
Sounds like you're talking out your ass

You'd think they might
Get science right
But they always make errors, alas
When predicting high seas
And pan-global crises?
Carbon is a greenhouse gas?

Some folks may suggest that they're being ironic
Say'n carbon in a greenhouse gas
To say it's a gas is, well, simply moronic
That should be revised:
It's gaseous when oxidised
CO2
Is gas, it's true
And they ought to have learned that in class
But they keep repeating
Like verbal excreting

Carbon!
Carbon!
(And not dioxide)
But carbon
Is a greenhouse gas!

Good stuff, Phil. Now, go get your own private jet and run around the world telling everyone else to conserve.... Having ripped this error, may we have a follow-up refuting the whole GW myth? Vote: 131.9F (=55.5C)

I don't need no greenhouse gas...I got ELECTRIC heaters in my greenhouse! :-) Good point well made...but when it comes to the media reporting science, my expectations are so low that I let these sort of gaffes slide. 555

Educational and entertaining, an unbeatable combination

Thanks, All :-)
Kristof - I know what you mean... but how anyone who's ever used a pencil can call carbon a gas is one too much for me
TT - Who says global warming's a myth? Whether we can actually do anything about it by piddly cuts in CO2 emissions is another matter...
Walt - Oh, yes they have ;-) I always check for political correctness: if it looks too PC, I chuck it out.

Phil, Roger that... just as there was global warming in the 1930s, causing the 'Oklahoma Dust Bowl" in the central US -- and there was global COOLING in the 1970s (millions of cars after the Dust Bowl), so bad that NASA sent satellites up to research the cause and cures, afraid that we'd all be an ice ball by now... agree with the conclusion.
