The Lyrics
The Italian Caproni-Campini C.C.2/N.1 thermal jet flew in 1940 right after the German He-178 did in August 1939. As such it was the second jet aircraft to fly (albeit a cold ducted fan hybrid). It was slow at 210 mph and looked like a "Flying Cigar". Caproni designed a jet fighter, the Ca.183bis, but nothing came of it. There was also a C.C.7 Toscana bomber project that fell through. In the end, the Italians were construction the Re.2007 while awaiting two German Jumo turbojets that were stolen in transit and sold for scrap!!! But the C.C.2 survived and sits in a museum for public display...
