The Lyrics

Oh, you guys are going to hate me for this one! (BTW, I would have said, "God help America!")
REV. JEREMIAH WRIGHT:

When the USA acts like she thinks she’s God,
Killing guiltless people ‘neath a racist rod,
Building bigger prisons, passing three-strike laws,
Then demands our blessing, “Naw, naw, naw!” I pause…

God damn America,
Land of my birth!
She oppressed us,
She messed us,
And she treats us as less than we’re worth!
From the pulpit,
From the Bible,
Like a prophet
I will vent:
“God damn America,
Till she repents!”

Jeremiah
Warned his country.
Jeremiah—
Hey, that’s me!
God damn America
Until she sees!
God damn America
Until we’re free!

I was going to say God Damn to you, but I looked at the parody & decided that I'm going to say God Damn to Jeremiah Wright instead.

So true, so true

I could never hate you, Melanie. You always do thought provoking stuff, and I commend you for supporting the unpopular position on Jeremiah Wright. But I think that your condemnation is misplaced. There are many more people trying to get into the United States than trying to get out. Yes, we still have room for improvement in the areas of justice and freedom, but we probably have more of those two qualities than any other nation on earth.

5's for you. I would rather not have people use that word, but oh well, not everyone lives that way. Nice job on the parody.

No man of the cloth worth his salt would express outrage with those words. Still, you did a nice job with this parody. Still, the irony of it all reminds me of a scenerio in the John Steinbeck novel "The Grapes of Wrath" which we read in lit class in my high school senior year. The Joad family and their neighbors are heading to California for work because the dust bowl catastrophe has ruined their Oklahoma farmlands. Grandma Joad is egging an ex-preacher to give a prayer. He says no because after church he'd whore around with whoever said yes and he quit the profession because he was tired of living a lie. Grandma Joad punctuates the argument by shouting, "Say a prayer, G D it!" A few days later she passed away. Do you see the dichometry? Strange but you made a good parody.

I intended to read The Grapes of Wrath last year but didn't. I did read The Pearl, which is much shorter. Thanks for sharing.
