Song Parodies -> "Supergluehasstuckmyfingers-notagoodprognosis"

Original Song Title:

"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"

Original Performer:

Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins)

Parody Song Title:

"Supergluehasstuckmyfingers-notagoodprognosis"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

Damn! Fiddle, stick a little, hate DIY
Damn! Fiddle, stick a little, hate DIY

Supergluehasstuckmyfingers-notagoodprognosis
No feeling in my fingertips, incipient necrosis
If I use this stuff again, I might try out hypnosis
Supergluehasstuckmyfingers-notagoodprognosis

Damn! Fiddle, stick a little, hate DIY
Damn! Fiddle, stick a little, hate DIY

Because I didn't want to stick
His broken toy together
My son began to cry so quick
I told him I'd endeavour
To fix that stupid plastic thing
That cost just twenty pence
To bring the string onto the spring
You can guess how it went:

Oh! Supergluehasstuckmyfingers-notagoodprognosis
Handling that sticky stuff is nearly a neurosis
If I do it long enough - becoming a psychosis
Supergluehasstuckmyfingers-notagoodprognosis

Damn! Fiddle, stick a little, hate DIY
Damn! Fiddle, stick a little, hate DIY

So when the glue has stuck you up
No, please don't swear or curse
And do not let it f..ix you up
Trust me: things could be worse
With sticky fingers all stuck tight
It's funny - try and laugh
I said last night here's what I'll write
Upon my epitaph:

Supergluehasstuckmyfingers-notagoodprognosis

How did you type...lol?
Michael Pacholek - July 31, 2003 - Report this comment
Gives a whole new meaning to "I'm rubber, you're glue..." I'd add to that, but it might get Malcolm in a tizzy.

Excellent Phil!

Very good, Phil - I enjoyed the way you replaced "um diddle diddle um diddle aye."

Lol, Good one Melhi, that would not be a good prognosis!

One of the better parodies I've read. Not as good as mine though :P. (j/k)

I've been away for a few days... this is such a great reception to which to return :-)

Melhi - "Pneumatic nailer"... scans better to "Hakuna Matata"- maybe something like this:
Pneumatic nailer - what a wonderful tool
Pneumatic nailer - just the name sounds cool
It means no fingers if you're playing the fool
It's the tool for free
Lobotomy
Pneumatic nailer

Only true geniuses can parody this song (he says modestly).
Spaff.com - August 04, 2003 - Report this comment
...Meaning I liked it. I can't fathom how someone could give it all 1's. Sigh.
Phil Alexander - August 05, 2003 - Report this comment
Spaff - reckon I must have annoyed somebody at some point: I (and quite a few others, too) went through a period where someone was getting in a 1:1:1 vote almost the instant the parodies were released - there's a few parodies about it, too. I think it had (nearly) stopped by the time you started posting. BTW, I definitely prefer your "Merry Poppystan" to this one, it has more substance to it- but this is still good for a giggle :-)

DIY does bite..... i like DDIAA (dont do it at all)
Phil Alexander - October 13, 2003 - Report this comment
Katie, it probably means you're not doing DIY properly: the correct way to do DIY without any danger to yourself is whenever anybody asks you to do something, you say: "Do It Yourself" ;-)

Splendiferous! I couldn`t have put it better myself. How odd it is to read this parody and be able to like it more than the original. Mucho congrats!
Phil Alexander - December 09, 2003 - Report this comment
Thanks wcwmni & BawkBawk... I guess it's something a lot of people can relate to :-)

Very nice :) I loved the way you worked the "Damn! Fiddle, stick a little, hate DIY" into there too - most parodists don't bother changing the 'nonsense' syllables.
