Parody Song Title:

"Supes Is Getting Old"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay

Superman has fragile wrists from osteoporosis.
Not young like he used to be- he's looking more like Moses.
Should have drunk his milk I guess, and that's my diagnosis:
Superman has fragile wrists from osteoporosis!

Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay

Used to speak of justice, now complains about his rash,
and people overtake him while out walking with the Flash.
Has trouble even following a simple villian's plot,
No super-hearing, now I fear it's given way to "WHAT?"

Oh, Superman has fragile wrists from osteoporosis.
Fried a passerby with heat, he just can't seem to focus.
Wears a little beret, almost all his teeth are bogus,
Superman has fragile wrists from osteoporosis!

Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay

Now here comes Wonder Pensioner, with unseen walking frame.
The Batmobile does 30 in the overtaking lane.
And Supes goes off to join them, in a slow and painful flight.
I let them go because I know tonight is bingo night!

Oh, Superman has fragile wrists from osteoporosis
He's a rusty Man of Steel, for bringing hope he's hopeless.
Not as strong as Popeye. Hell, he's not as strong as Opus,
Superman has fragile wrists from osteoporosis!

It's funny how many different angles and interpretations there are to this one song. This one was excellent.

The bingo night verse just killed me. Super job.

Excellent parody - good job with the variety in the chorus. But who's Opus?
Billy Florio - October 26, 2003 - Report this comment
I dont know how I missed this...but, anyway, John, the only Opus I can think of (Other than Mr Hollands ..) is from the comic strips Bloom Country and Outland (and the upcoming Opus)....great strips..kinda like Doonesbury

That's it Billy. I picked Opus because he's a cartoon character, he contrasts sharply to supes (a funny little penguin), and he's american (therefore, in theory, familiar to more page viewers). Guess I misjudged that last bit. Maybe I should ask an american next time :-)

Yeah, I almost missed this one too. Very good and the funny meter was pegged. Loved it.

I would say that anyone that lived int he 80s or early 90s in AMerica, and read the comics, should know who Opus is and what Bloom Country and Outland were

This was very good with a lot of good lines. But it might have been even better if you rhymed the half lines like the original and if you used spell check.
Steven Cavanagh - December 21, 2003 - Report this comment
By "half-lines", do you mean: The biggest WORD you've ever HEARD... No super-HEARing, now I FEAR... I let them GO because I KNOW...?

When I tell people about this site, as an example of how many and talented the contributers are, I say there are twenty parodies to this song, but this is my favorite.

Just revisiting out of nostalgia - I can't remember of this is the first parody we'd read here, but it definitely made a big impression on us and was pivotal in our deciding to try to write them. Really like how there's an internal rhyme just in the final line of each verse - nice little flourish.

Brilliant, especially the main line and idea.
