Song Parodies -> "Somewhere On My Computer"

Original Song Title:

"Somewhere Over The Rainbow"

Original Performer:

Judy Garland

Parody Song Title:

"Somewhere On My Computer"

Parody Written by:

Bob Gomez

The Lyrics

Dedicated to helpful Technology Departments everywhere.
Somewhere on my computer
There's a file
How I wish I could find it--
Dude, that would make me smile!

Can't remember the title
Or keyword--
I've tried Sherlock and Google
F#@K! What a cybernerd!

I'll.....
Bet it's buried in a folder
Locked within a folder's folder tightly---
I must have hit the Enter key
And saved it so mistakenly
That file can bite me!!!!

Someday on my computer
I shall see
There my Finder will find it
Smiling iconically

Won't.....
Technogods of geekiness
Relieve my sense of powerless frustration?
This is the pittiest of pits
I've ever been in, seeing it's
My dissertation!

In front of my computer
I shall crash
Till my file turns up someday
Unless it's in the Trash....

If...
Sappy little neutered guys...
Can find their files....
Why, oh why can't I?

Nice use of the original song, Bob. 'Enter key'/'Mistakenly'/'Bite me' was my favorite rhyme grouping.

Very nice. Though of course you could just do a full text search of the entire drive. Doesn't work for things like music/video/images, of course, but it would work fine for someone's dissertation (I've had to do stuff like that a couple times).

Not bad

Very very good (555). I love the potential of this song; Laurence, I've taken up the challenge and posted my parody just this minute...check it out!

Thanks for all the comments, folks. Of course this is not a real situation for me, although I have lost huge databases that were on floppies. Royce Miller has a cool parody about her refrigerator to this tune. Neminem: now I know who to go to for help! Thanks--ever try the "For The Longest Time" parody version with your acappella group? d;:^)

Hehe... yeah, except it doesn't work if the file actually *did* get deleted. Which actually happened *numerous* times back when I was a lab monitor in 10th grade... people saving their things on the hard drive like they weren't supposed to, instead of in their directories on the server, and having them automatically deleted. I didn't catch on that that was what was going on for a while, so it confused me as much as it did the people whose files were lost ;-).

And no, I have two other people who would be happy to do parodic versions (they happen to be both the other two males, and the other two Mudders, go figure) but the rest of the group would be a bit weirded.

Excellent! Me, too, Bob: I've never understood how people don't know where they've saved something, or what they called it (or why it's not in the Documents MRU list.. oh look - there it is ;-) )

After a crash, remove the cache so files don't get trashed.
