©2008 by Michael W. McVey The parody translates something like this: We're the flu, and we will always be. The infernal cough will never end, which makes us miss work because of a fever. For a long time the Peruvian has been bothered by a head cold, condemned with cruel certainty to a congested nose and lungs. Moreover the flu is compounded -- "Salud!" (the Spanish version of "bless you" or "gesundheit") is heard everywhere -- with bronchitis and acute asthma, and the sneeze inflames the nose.
