Parody Song Title:

"Skylark"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Skylark,
You're a special brand of Buick car
More unique than any style, by far
Came on the scene in "Fifty Three"
Convertible, at first, you'd be..

Skylark,
Wire wheels of chrome were your trademark
Three-two-two V8 for engine spark
But, "Fifty Four" your style was spurned,
Not till "Sixty One" returned..

Your vinyl roof so cool
A two barrel carb to face each drag race duel
Stereo music,
Cruising and listening to..every favorite tune
Nights in the summer, out there racing the moon

Oh, Skylark,
More than thirty years you've done your thing
"Ninety Eight" would mark the final fling
But, we still catch you everywhere
Classic cars are always there..

Ohhh, Skylaaarrrrrrk.....Skylaaarrrrk....

Skylarrrrrk...

The Buick Skylark was made from 1953 to (I believe) 1998, and it had America's first aluminum V-8 and first V-6 in a production passenger car. 555

OMG. We had a '63 Skylark when I was a tiny turtlet... but forgot about the V-6 till Darrell Wilhelm reminded me... 3-on-the-tree, utterly reliable, smooth, efficient... 555, and sorry, woulda got to this sooner if I knew where it was going -- had no clue and DKTOS.

Thanks, Tommy,...yeah this is an oldie...but, one of my favorites by J. Mercer, who, in my estimation, was the greatest lyricist of the 20th...

AFW, did you know that there was a Skylark before Buick made one? The car was the 1939-40 Hupmobile Skylark, made by the Hupp Company, which is now (I believe) part of Delphi, made cars from the early 1900s to 1940, and the 1939-40 Skylark shared everything but the engine, transmission and chrome trim pieces with the 1940-41 Graham Hollywood and both of those cars shared the entire body aft of the hood hinges with the 1936-37 Cord Westchester. 5's.
