The Lyrics

It was too tempting! Since I'm 50 years old and this is my 50th parody, I couldn't help myself! This is also in honor of the upcoming 50th birthday of my band-mate, Judy.
Look at me!
My poor butt's affected by strong gravity
And the aches and the stiffness have increased
I feel like a wreck
I am fifty
With pains in my neck

Walk my way --
I can see you're so much fuzzier today
And your voice must have gotten softer now
It just isn't fair
I am fifty
And must dye my hair!

You could say that I'm not very old
That my mirror is flawed - what bad luck!
And since first I am hot, then I am cold
It's 'cause this thermostat sucks

I'm not sad
Next to the alternative, it's not so bad
So what if I forgot the um-um-um
Song's lyrics just then?
I am fifty
And must pee again

Saw your picture on the messageboard, Mari D - and may I say, in a thoroughly proper and gentlemanly way, you're a FINE lookin' 50 ! Congratulations on your 50th parody - here's 555 to make you feel 505 years younger.

Mari, I'll be a fine excuse for 50 on March 11, but I'll try to keep my chins up.

Mari, Of course you know I can relate to this. I love how you "forgot" the lyrics. And congratulations on your 50-50!

Mari D - CONGRATS ON 50/50 (Years/Parodies)!!! Just remember, there probably isn't anything you were able to do at 49 that you won't be able to do at 50. I see Chucky finally got the Espresso Gardens pix up, too. You do look great there (as well as in person). But the old dude to your on the right of you (on your left)! Who the hell is he, Methusala? Jeez, he doesn't look bad for what, 70-75? I swear, I'm really much better looking than that (when I got home Saturday the first the I got was a sinus infection, talk about SWELLING! So that must have been it...OH...hey, Congratulations to me, too! I finally got my computer today, set it up, got my Internet access and here I am, in the comfort of my own home typing away like crazy. Boy, was I getting tired of trekking to the Library (or when despair at their PC's and desperation set in rolling over to Kinko's and paying thru the snozzola to check my e-mail and stuff. Well, better save some space for someone else. Later....OH...great parody.

Great job on the parody! I read your parody, now how bout you read mine? "Come On Over" to the Shania Twain section and "Check It Out"

Dave, Jan, Adagio, Birg, Paul, & Gentleman Johnny: Thank you--for your nice comments on the parody AND the picture (thank goodness for PhotoShop!). [Side note to Rick: you look great at 50 also!]. Actually, I didn't just turn 50; that was in August, but I had a lot fewer parodies then. I should also say that perspective is off because of the wide angle lens and that Paul is thinner in person. BTW, Paul, congrats on the computer and stop feeling so old! Dave: Happy birthday!

Amusing parody - I, too, liked the "um-um-um." Congratulations on the milestone.
Paul Robinson - February 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Mari D - Thanks, my tattered self-image needed that! Yeah, it must have been the combination of the wide angle lens and standing next to your slender self. I dunno, there's just something about me and photo pictures...you should see how fat I look on my old CA Driver's license picture. I look like my fat cousin Al (sorry, Al). It's odd, they used the same exact picture for my renewal but in the NEW one it actually looks like me. In The OLD one not only do I look immense but my hair is almost entirely grey. Phooey! Glad I got a new one.

Awesome!....... Happy Five -Oh!
May I add! You Look Fabulous!, saw your photo, too!
BTW: I'm right behind you..only a couple of more years for me =) Thanks for this uplifting parody!

Thanks, John & Diva!
Diva: I'll return the compliment by saying that you look good for your "advanced age"!
Paul R: Speaking of driver's licenses--about 15 years ago I had a surprisingly good, smiley DL photo. However, I got tired of going into stores, having taken a break from housecleaning or on a bad hair day and hearing the cashiers say "THIS is YOU?" When renewal time came up again, I purposely did not wash or brush my hair and frowned at the camera.
Paul W: what are the odds of two 53-year-old Pauls on the same site? I was confused. Must be Oldtimer's disease! To further confuse the issue, maybe you two can collaborate...

Great job mari! BTW Congrats on 50 years/parodies!, like Paul R said! Thank you for checking out the Shania parodies the other day Mari. Unfortuneately, they weren't very impressive, eh? I have just added a new Shania Twain parody to the Shania Twain section that I think you would enjoy. There is even a link to a sample of the original song. Any comments or votes would be graciously appreciated.
Rick D - February 29, 2004 - Report this comment
Chris---Knock it off with the constant Shania messages. It's annoying and we were sick of her before you got obsessed with her.
