The Lyrics

My 5th installment in a 12-part series devoted to the German POV during WW2, starting with the defeat in 1945 and working back through the entire Third Reich and war from 1933-45. The year is 1943...
London attacked by bombing! Resuming!
But in Africa denied victory
While at Stalingrad all is desolate,
Paulus filled with regret!
“Gott Mit Uns?” Losses have us wondering…???
Amid conquering!
Kharkov, on to Kursk! For goals we still strive,
We fight on in a backward land so wide
Ally withers, with fighting in Sicily
Surrender of Italy!

Back home, RAF strikes! our fair cities!
While Ruhr dams burst by way of Brit “heavies”
RAF comes to bomb Berlin- so brave
In daring daylight raids
Luftwaffe must now fight defensively
Radio propaganda booms, with news,
Nothing of Jews (first Warsaw Ghetto fighting)
Red Army takes Orel, Kharkov, Smolensk
Kiev too, German Army to the test
Danger, advances by all enemies!
Must hold all territory!!!

Over deep streams and landscape, were hell-bent,
Fighting the Soviet horde, were defiant
Onward the Tiger and Panthers were sent,
Even the Elefants!
Onward these monsters - were our last chance,
Facing thousands of T-34s at a glance,
Firing at will, 88s were slamming,
Then came an odd Red attack- tank ramming!
Advance halted as tactic took a toll
Turrets blocked, T-34s on the roll!
Loss of Kursk was the turning of the tide,
Russian conquest denied

Secret meetings in Cairo and Tehran,
Western and Soviet leaders made their plans
In Russia, Kursk loss, the balance thus had swung
German Army backward fight had begun,
Here and there, everywhere, no victory
Scharnhorst was lost at sea...

Thanks JAB... but I think I bit off more than I could chew with Edymion (Book IV). I am already at 1943 and still have 7 sections to go!!! I have to cover 1944-45 and back to end reflections by the German soldier. Even with my abundance of knowledge in this dept. I cannot cover everything for every single year. Being centered on the German POV, I have to stick to German thoughts, battles, and weapons for the most part and their interaction with Germany's enemies. 1944 should give me a break b/c that's when Speer got the economy rolling 12x the production and with complex weapons such as the new Tigers, jet aircraft, assault and AT weapons, V1-V2 revenge weapons, and of course the intensifyong round-the-clock bombing of the Allies as well as the Soviet push towards Berlin. Lastly, the preparations for the Ardennes Offensive and Luftwaffe last bombings of the Western front and London. 1945 is the Bulge, fighting in E Europe, the Remagen Bridge, the Rhine crossings, Battle of Berlin, Volkssturm, and Holocaust. So, my work is cut-out for me!!! I can actually extend a bit with the Werwolf material too as well as transfer of Reich assets and Nazis to S America. Look for mention of little-known historical events and weapons included...
