The Lyrics

The 2011 California State Fair this year featured a gross-out bug eating theme and served samples of such "exotic world cuisine" as: Maggot sandwiches, B(ee)- LT sandwiches, fried crickets, and Spider rolls. My parody is about the Spider roll which is in recipe form that actually CAN be made from this list of ingredients and the song!!! Enjoy... yuck!!! Ingredients needed: 1 tarantula, 1 packet tempura mix, 2 cups water, 2 cups canola oil, 1/2 cucumber, 1/2 red pepper, 2 tablespoon mayonnaise, 1/2-1 teaspoon Sriracha, 2-4 cups cooked rice, 1/2 cup seasoned rice vinegar, 1 package sushi nori, Sushi roller, Saran wrap, Bic lighter (to singe Tarantukla hairs)!
Went to the Cal. State Fair
Was hungry- had to eat
Bugs for consumption theme?
WTF??? That’s NOT a treat!

No Sir, no way!
That’s certainly not for me
But for those who like the gross
Here’s a recipe:

Freeze Tarantula overnight
Then abdomen cut off-carefully
Discard in a waste bin
Heat oil in a pot- that’s deep

Burn off Tarantula’s small hairs
Mix tempura accordingly
Leave batter very think
Dip Tarantula and fry nicely

Golden brown, turning once
Remove, then place on a paper towel
When cool, cut the legs off
Now you’re ready for the roll

Now I have to ask you
Who would eat a Spider Roll?
No matter how modern the times
I don’t really think it’s cool

Julienne cucumber and pepper
Mix mayo and Sriracha for spiciness
Mix rice with rice vinegar, to taste
Time to finish up the rest

Cover sushi roller with Saran Wrap
One sheet of nori on top
Flatten a cup of rice on half
Streak with spicy mayo- then stop

Arrange cucumber and pepper slices,
With Tarantula legs in the center
Roll sushi, pressing firmly,
and cut into 8 slices- ready for dinner!

Now I have to ask you
Who would eat a Spider Roll?
No matter how modern the times
I don’t really think it’s cool

The carapace of the Tarantula
Contains the most meat
Remove the fangs, venom neutralized
With spicy mayo (as a side) you can eat!

Now I have to ask you
Who would eat a Spider Roll?
No matter how modern the times
I don’t really think it’s cool

Now I have to ask you
Who would eat a Spider Roll?
No matter how modern the times
I don’t really think it’s cool

I don't think it's cool at all
I don't think it's cool at all

That was actually the point at the Fair. A woman who wrote a cooking book for bugs stated that something like 70% of the world eats bugs in one way or another!!! So instead of RAID, grab that fryin' pan!!! I'm serious- isn't living in California just crazy??? People really liked it. I played it safe and ate some raccoon... not a bug, but not exactly lamb or goat either!
