The Lyrics

It's probably no surprise that, because of my tastes (eclectic, archaic, eccentric, wacky), my favorite singer/musician /entertainer by far is none other than Leon Redbone. This admiration is long-standing, dating back to his first appearance on Saturday Night Live in the early seventies. At the time, my initial reaction was "What in the hell is THAT?". It took me all of 90 seconds to become a lifelong fan. How does one describe Leon Redbone to somebody who has never heard or seen him? With great difficulty! ;D

What's that - sound of a singer moanin'?
Unique - style that just defies clonin'.
It's from - all the C.D.s I'm ownin'.

It's that far out cat - in sunglasses and a hat -
It's Leon Redbone!
How the music flows - from the mustache and big nose
Of Leon Redbone!
And he's bringing smiles - singing all those good old styles,
That's Leon Redbone!

Playing - by himself, with a small band.
Cult guy - not in great public de-mand.
Give that - splendid fellow a big hand!

Oh, he'll croon the blues - almost anything he'll choose,
He's Leon Redbone.
Wearing that white suit - he's a talented galoot!
It's Leon Redbone!
From his special niche - there's no product he won't pitch!
That's Leon Redbone!

(Intrumental interlude)

Smooth as - tropic breeze in Aruba.
Nothing - like him in France or Cuba.
My dream? - Joining him with my tuba!*

Redbone!

* = Leon often performs with just his guitar and a single tubist or bass sax player. Check him out. ;D

DK him at all, but thanks to your detailed description, I feel like I do now. And wow, the puns that could be made upon that last name ... :-D

He's unmistakable, for certain, and a nice tribute OMR. His voice is one of a kind. 5s.

I remember seeing Leon Redbone on Life Goes On. He was a step above most blues singers.

I thought I already commented on this one! I had to YT Redbone before commenting. Listened to "Lazy Bones" and his song sounded wonderful. Great tribute and 5's!
